    • Floating in a political stew

One of the interesting things about coaching is that clients often raise the topics you need to work on, yourself. It was the day of Trump’s inauguration. My client wanted to be present for what was going on at this pivotal time in our political life. She did not wish to succumb to the disappointment, worry and anger she was feeling.

We spent time working through her strengths, one of which is her unshaken belief in the principle of equanimity, being in harmony with reality. This conversation reminded me of the importance of accepting what is going on in our lives without needing in any way to change the situation, while still working towards meaningful change.

Pain is inevitable but suffering is always optional. I love my clients and I am right behind her on this one.
